Anthony Gill

Anthony Gill is professor of political science at the University of Washington, Distinguished Senior Fellow at Baylor’s Institute for Studies of Religion, and author of The Political Origins of Religious Liberty (Cambridge) and Rendering unto Caesar: The Catholic Church and the State in Latin America (Chicago).  The former book was awarded the American Sociological Association’s Section on Religion’s Distinguished Book Award in 2009.  He also received the UW’s Distinguished Teaching Award in 1999.  Prof. Gill earned his B.A. degree in political science and history at Marquette University and his Ph.D. at UCLA.    In addition to completing two marathons and holding a black belt in martial arts, he loves all things western including camping, campfires, fishing, horseback riding and target shooting.  Tony lives with his wife and son in rural King County and attends Redemption Church, where nearly every Sunday he can be heard singing out of tune.
